A Monthly Recap of Small Wins We Should Celebrate
March has been quite the month for drama and surprises. In Minnesota, a Republican-led recall effort against Democratic lawmakers was swiftly dismissed by the state’s Supreme Court, because apparently, making vague allegations doesn’t count as “grounds” for anything—who knew?
Meanwhile, the Trump administration suffered yet another legal setback, with a judge temporarily blocking its attempt to remove immigrants using the Alien Enemies Act.
On a lighter note, Ireland generously decided to donate $16 million to the Amazon, perhaps to make up for all those years of global warming jokes. Oh, and Texas just set some exciting records—most wind, most solar, and most battery discharge. Go, Texas!
On the political front, Harvard made the move to finally make tuition free for families earning $200,000 or less, because apparently, they're all about that “inclusive” vibe now.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Court of Appeals upheld a law banning firearm sales to people under 21—because who needs a 12-year-old buying an assault rifle anyway?
The DNC is also in full swing, focusing on Florida’s special elections, possibly because they needed a little more sunshine to brighten their spirits. Not to mention, public political engagement is up, probably because it’s hard to avoid these days.
Back in Idaho, a judge ruled in favor of healthcare providers, so they don’t have to worry about getting in trouble for providing emergency care. It’s nice to know that, at least in some places, common sense is still a thing. But hey, keep watching, because who knows what drama next month will bring.
